The Regional Museum in Barlinek

Barlinek , Niepodległości 15

Opis:

The Regional Museum in Barlinek is located at Niepodległości 15 St. The seat of the institution is Gutenberg House. The name of this nineteenth century building comes from the function (bookstore and printing house) which it originally fulfilled, which is a souvenir of the bust of the printing inventor placed on the pediment. The unit was established as a House of Souvenirs on the initiative of a resident of Barlinek Czesław Paśnik, later transformed into the Regional Museum. Currently, it presents collections as part of permanent exhibitions devoted to: the eminent inhabitant of the city, Dr. Emanuel Lasker, an outstanding chess player (in front of the entrance to the building there is a monument commemorating him); as well as archaeological and ethnographic documentation of the former history of the commune and the everyday life of its inhabitants. The collection also includes the city of Barlinek, written by the founder of the chronicle, in which the author included his own reflection on the city from 1945-1975. The facility also organizes museum classes for children and young people. The museum is open from Monday to Friday from 8.00-16.00.
